For those of you who play TF2 regularly, you will have noticed that ever since the WAR! update, your game has (probably) been stuttering and crashing like crazy. I think I have finally found a solution to that problem on the steam forums >HERE<

According to Shazril,

      
- Download and install process management software (System Explorer, Process Lasso etc)
- Run TF2 then Alt+Tab
- Set TF2(hl2.exe) process priority to below normal then make permanent.

Now my TF2 runs smoothly. Hope yours [will] too.
      
   

So far all I have done was use windows task manager to set steam's priority to low, this however is not a permanent solution. So, as Shazril recommends, you should go get some kind of process management software and permanently set TF2's priority to low or below normal. This way the priority change will still be reflected upon reboot.

I was able to play for two stutter free hours today!

I have not yet tested this, but I just downloaded System Explorer and the steps I used to set Steam's priority to below normal are as follows:

1. launch system explorer as admin
2. on the left tree structure, under System, click Processes
3. browse for steam.exe
4. right click on steam.exe and set process priority to below normal
5. right click on steam.exe again and set process priority to permanent

Again, I have not yet tested this with system explorer, I have only tested it with windows task manager. I'm assuming though that system explorer will work the same way, just as a more permanent solution.
